About the Job
As a member of our early-stage DataHub Developer Relations Team, we are seeking a builder who likes to get things done, solve challenging problems, and teach others. We are searching for a great developer advocate to help us support the DataHub community and make it thrive. This is a high-impact opportunity to be a part of a community that has seen incredible growth in the past year.
Job Responsibilities
As a Developer Advocate, you will build examples to solve real-world challenges and write tutorials that help developers understand and use the DataHub platform. You’ll write and maintain documentation and tutorials to help people understand how DataHub is used and designed. You will also be a liaison to the DataHub community where:
- You will help contributors make progress and be successful with DataHub.
- You will coordinate community discussions, answer questions, and keep up with issues.
- You will help your teammates understand what the community needs and advocate for the community internally.
- You will become an expert member of the DataHub community.
Skills & Experience
- An ideal developer advocate for the DataHub community is someone who is a mix of teacher, product manager, and software engineer.
- You are eager to learn complex technical ideas and to find accessible ways to teach other people about them.
- You excel at listening and understanding what someone is trying to get done. You can identify when the response to a question should be, “tell me more about that… “ instead of a simple answer.
- You continuously seek feedback from the community members to identify areas of improvement and implement changes accordingly.
- You have excellent communication skills. Your writing is clear and concise without being dull.
- You are comfortable organizing and facilitating meetups, conferences, and hackathons to share about DataHub.
- You have proven experience writing readable and maintainable code in Python and have expertise in modern data/ML tools such as AWS, Airflow, Spark, dbt, Looker, etc.
What gives you an edge:
- Experience working with the DataHub open-source project
- Familiarity with GraphQL, Java
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a wide audience
- Demonstrated experience guiding others to success in implementing, deploying, and adopting technical solutions
