Technical Writer
About the Job
Catchy is growing its delivery team and is seeking a technical writer to support our clients by creating guides, tutorials, and other content to help developers. Ideal candidates have experience working at both strategic and tactical levels to develop and execute impactful content programs. In this role, you will be working directly with one of our marquee clients and creating exceptional work for one of the biggest companies in the world.
What You Will Do:
You will create content that inspires and educates developers by working directly with Catchy’s Director of Technology and a team of strategists, graphic designers, and industry experts. Initial emphasis will be placed on producing how-to guides, tutorials, and reference documentation, but will expand based on the needs of our clients. Other activities include auditing existing developer documentation, creating content strategies, and defining best practices for creating developer-facing content.
Job Responsibilities
- Work to obtain an in-depth understanding of technical products and documentation requirements.
- Create content strategies and technical content that positively impacts developer experience.
- Perform research and interview stakeholders to identify topics for new content.
- Produce high-quality documentation that meets defined standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
- Write easy-to-understand developer guides that include code samples
- Create tutorials to educate developers on the use of a variety of applications
- Collaborate with the rest of the creative team and the larger company
- Work with and present work to clients in a clear and confident manner
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience creating content that inspires and educates a highly technical developer audience. You will also be interested in working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous agency environment with plenty of opportunities for growth and new challenges!
- 3-5 years experience as a technical writer, ideally at an agency, consulting firm, or corporate enterprise
- Experience auditing developer portals, understanding what developers need to know, and creating content that fills the gaps
- Proven track record of taking a strategic and deeply customer-minded approach to content development
- A skilled collaborator who can clearly articulate and propose concepts and ideas to internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to understand and explain complex systems from the developer user's perspective.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working with a significant level of autonomy
Bonus Points:
Although not a core requirement for the job, preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following skill sets.
- Software development experience or past experience working with code at a more cursory level.
- Familiarity working with APIs
- Experience in the digital payments or fintech space
- Experience producing video tutorials and other video content
