Developer Advocate and Community Manager
About the Job
We are seeking to hire a Developer Advocate and Community Manager to join our team. This person will be responsible for increasing awareness and adoption of Multiplayer by developing technical content and building an engaged developer community. This is an incredible opportunity to join the founding team and help define the trajectory of a venture-backed company from the early days.
Job Responsibilities
Content:
- Create informative and quality technical materials, such as blog posts, tutorials, and documentation, to assist developers in understanding and utilizing Multiplayer's platform
- Develop and publish content to broaden awareness of Multiplayer’s brand
Community:
- Interact with our community on social media platforms (e.g. Twitter or Reddit) and communication platforms such as Discord or HackerNews
- Cultivate relationships with developers, technical communities, and other relevant industry leaders who might become advocates of the company
- Nurture users of the platform and work to deeply understand their needs, usage patterns, and challenges when engaging with the products
- Create, produce, and deliver presentations at meetups, conferences, videos, streams, podcasts, and other ecosystem events
Technical:
- Collaborate with the Engineering team and gather feedback from the community to help shape the direction of the product, and refine our roadmap
- Stay up to date on industry trends and technologies to help define new products and features of the Multiplayer platform
- Serve as a technical evangelist for Multiplayer’s platform, helping developers understand how to use it effectively and providing guidance on best practices
- Write code (as necessary) to support tutorials, blog posts, documentation, and presentations
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience creating technical documentation in one or more of the following areas: SaaS, API documentation, CI/CD, Open Source, Databases, APM, Distributed Systems
- Strong understanding of system design not just programming, i.e. working in a microservices environment and problem-solving at the platform level
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create technical content that is accurate, engaging, and easy to understand
- Have experience working with developers/engineers and technical communities
- Familiar with posting on social channels including Twitter, Reddit, Hackernews, YouTube and Discord
- Passionate about community building, helping developers, and having a positive impact on our industry
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Excited to work in a dynamic, constantly changing environment, with the ability to prioritize work appropriately
- Data-driven, ambitious, and a strong eye for detail
- Comfortable writing for print and digital media formats
