About the Job

The Global Product Information (GPI) organization is responsible for creating and publishing documentation and training deliverables according to the global standards for Dematic products, subsystems, and solutions supported by the Global Products and Solutions organization (GPS).

As a technical writer in GPI, you will be responsible for creating world-class documentation for internal and external audiences across the globe. You will work closely with distributed development teams throughout the software development lifecycle to create reliable, clear, and concise content. You must have a passion for working with engineering teams on highly technical products and making information available to internal and external customers in innovative and engaging ways.

Job Responsibilities

• Build strong partnerships with engineers, product managers, and other experts and stakeholders
• Conduct needs analysis sessions to determine the appropriate depth and breadth of content for the various internal and external audiences
• Write and edit API documentation
• Write, edit, and organize technical content regarding installing, configuring, and customizing Dematic software products and required third party applications
• Take complex input and information from multiple sources, analyze to determine next steps, and effectively execute the plan, adjusting as needed
• Partner with instructional designers within GPI to create engaging learning content
• Learn the products and be self-sufficient in using software with simulators and test equipment
• Participate with scrum teams to plan and deliver standard deliverables for each software release
• Establish a strong feedback loop with experts in various roles and continuously improve deliverables

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as English, Professional Writing, Engineering, or Computer Science
• Minimum 2- 6 years of experience documenting technical products
• Exceptional writing skills to produce effective technical content for an engineering audience
• Must have experience creating API and code documentation for developers
• Proficiency with content authoring, publishing, and multimedia development using a variety of applications
• Experience or familiarity with DITA and structured authoring
• Familiarity with the Agile development process
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
• Exceptional ability to work with cross-functional teams to build partnerships and get things done
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, edge devices, IOT 4.0, and similar concepts
• Programming experience or exposure to programming languages and the ability to read code such as C, C++, and JavaScript
• Experience in material handling systems or similar industry would be an asset
