Are you passionate about creating a truly remarkable experience for developers on a platform? Do you love engaging with the developer community, nurturing entrepreneurs, and helping others grow? We’re seeking a strategic leader who has built authority in an ecosystem to help us grow and shape the Developer Relations practice at HubSpot. We have been gaining momentum with our APIs, CMS, and partner programs, as we build out the platform to help millions of organizations Grow Better. We’re looking for the right leader to help us scale by building innovative, supportive programs and content that will win the hearts and minds of software and web developers who should be building on HubSpot.

In this role, you’ll cultivate a network packed with industry leaders, technologists, partners, and strategic customers. You'll build relationships, exchange ideas, and raise awareness for HubSpot (our platform and our products). Reporting to the SVP of Product for Developer and Ecosystems, you’ll lead a strong team and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Business Development, and Marketing to drive adoption of our developer tools and encourage new and creative integrations.

You will be an ecosystem evangelist both inside and outside of HubSpot. This is an opportunity to have a huge impact, including sharing the HubSpot story far and wide, meeting with customers and partners, engaging deeply with the developer community, and working closely with HubSpot executive leadership to drive our platform and ecosystem strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creating a DevRel strategy across advocacy, developer communities, events and programs, and ecosystem quality to win the hearts and minds of our HubSpot developers
  • Share the narrative of DevRel across the company - teaching cross-functional leaders across HubSpot how to work with DevRel, how to understand value from the team, and the impact a thriving developer ecosystem can have to the core business
  • Driving key performance metrics for developer engagement with our tools and programs, and for the quality of our ecosystem partner offerings
  • Defining the career ladder for DevRel and creating psychological safety across the team. Coaching, hiring, and retaining a high-performing set of remarkable people that thrive.
  • Building strong bonds with the Engineering, Product, and Design teams to ensure that developer needs are properly prioritized at all stages of product development

Skills & Experience

  • Scaled DevRel teams from grassroots efforts to scaled organizations. You’ve seen a spectrum of what has worked, and what hasn't, and understand how to talk about what a DevRel team does. 
  • Amazing ability to collaborate and know how to create executive sponsorship and how to tell the story and value of DevRel
  • Have deep domain experience working on integrations and APIs in other ecosystems, and a passion for developers and platforms
  • An equally strong drive to listen to customers and translate their needs back to internal teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the willingness to defend their ideas to key stakeholders
  • A real passion for engaging with developer communities - sharing what you know in person, in blogs, in presentations
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, constantly changing environment and can prioritize work appropriately
  • Enjoy people interaction and cross-collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Go-To-Market teams
  • Proven leadership skills, and the ability to make decisions, test assumptions, and iterate - often without perfect information
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Someone who can add to the culture of the team and cares about diversity, inclusion, and belongin
